As I prepare to teach a ‘course’ (indeed, an ‘academic course’) on Krishnadas Kaviraja’s Caitanya-caritamrita at Bhaktivedanta College in Radhadesh, I reflect on how relatively little Caitanya Mahaprabhu is known in the wider world. Indeed, even in India he (I’m using the standard English small -h-, standard even for divinities) is known mainly in Bengal, Orissa, and Vrindavan.
Krishnadas writes of Mahaprabhu’s travels throughout India, giving the impression that he was highly influential wherever he went. It would be interesting if we could access further details of this influence from other sources.
I have an idea for a book on Sri Caitanya that would be both for devotees and a broader audience of people seeking spirituality. Others could maybe help write it. More on this later… — KKD
