Here in Hong Kong, people speak what in English is called ‘Cantonese’, a language quite different from the main language of ‘mainland China’ (which is known in the west as ‘Mandarin’). For me it’s an opportunity to remember Krishna’s quality of ‘vividhadbhuta-bhasa-vit’ or ‘the Knower of various wonderful languages’ (one of 64 listed by Rupa Goswami).  To me  Chinese languages are ‘wonderful’  because  I  don’t understand  a word of them! Also the writing, consisting of ’sinograms’, is completely non-phonetic, which seems quite mystical, at least to the non-initiate. But I wonder: assuming Krishna knows a language (like Cantonese) perfectly (since people who speak the language obviously know it, and Krishna is the giver of knowledge), does the language remain ‘wonderful’ to Him? I wonder. More generally,  is it not wonderful that  Krishna can know ‘everything’ and still wonder (at His creation, at the love of His devotees…)?
